Molly Sturges (healing-centered composer, social practice artist/director, performer, educator/healing arts practitioner) has created with individuals and communities around the globe for over twenty-five years with a focus on creativity, healing, contemplative practice and community organizing. Molly was recently the William Wilson Corcoran Visiting Professor in arts and community engagement at the Corcoran School of Art and Design and is currently in residence at The University of Minnesota. Luis Guerra

Composer

Award winning composer and music producer, Luis Guerra, spent his early years playing drums and piano before picking up the double bass at an early age. He studied music and composition and soon began performing professionally at the age of 15. He has performed on stage or recorded in the studio with musical luminaries including Peter Buck (REM), Patty Griffin, Marc Ribot, Money Mark, Jimmy Messer, Alejandro Escovedo, Meiko, Barrett Martin, Rahim Alhaj, Kevin Hays, Coleman Barks, Bobby Shew, Tosca Tango Orchestra, and Orchestra La Tribu. These days, he spends most of his time composing music for film, TV, podcasts, and online media.

Roderick Demmings Jr.

Music Director

Roderick Demmings Jr. is an award-winning pianist and organist, who began his performance career at New York’s Carnegie Hall in a debut, solo performance at the age of 12. In addition to piano, Rod began taking pipe organ lessons at 12 and merited a full scholarship to attend Peabody Conservatory of Johns Hopkins University where he graduated with an undergraduate degree in organ performance. he toured South Africa and Lesotho, performing for both Archbishop Desmond Tutu and Nelson Mandela. He’s also toured Italy, performed in concert halls from Philadelphia’s Verizon Center to Washington D.C.’s Kennedy Center, to Los Angeles’s Walt Disney Concert Hall, and many more.Having a heart for social justice, Rod formed #BlackMusicMatters, an arts ensemble for singers and instrumentalists aimed at empowering and healing the Beloved Community” through Black Music.

Anne Laurie Catherine Betine Joseph

Project Coordinator

Anne Joseph is a third year student at the George Washington University, double majoring in English creative writing and political science, and minoring in music. She is a multi arts performer who began performing on stage at the age of five, and has been performing ever since. Anne is a core member of the Waking The Oracle creative team.
